Celebrating Women for the Real World

I Am Blessed

That sounds kind of funny being that I’m writing this update from our hotel room in “Sin City” and I may have gambled a dollar or two, but really, I do feel blessed.

Let’s face it, when you live in a household of three teenagers, life tends to get in the way of togetherness between a husband and wife.  Every visit to Las Vegas reminds me how much I love my husband and how much I cherish our life together.  Vegas usually is not thought of as a “romantic get-away”.  To us, it is.  This was the first place we came as a couple.  That was 11 years ago.  We stayed at the Luxor during that first trip and were fortunate enough to connect with a hostess who has taken care of us each visit back.  The Luxor has always gone above and beyond to make sure our stay is comfortable.

Yesterday was James’ birthday.  Here is why I say that I am blessed.  We were fortunate enough to have the funds to fly here.  We had funds to “play” with.  We have restraint to know when to stop.  We had just as much fun staying in the room (they put us in a suite complete with a jacuzzi tub and a 42″ HD TV) as we would have dropping a ton of money in the casino.  Our hostess sent a bottle of champagne and six chocolate covered strawberries to the room then treated us to a wonderful steak dinner.

I want you all to write this down – I have NOTHING to complain about.  The amenities were great, the service even better, and being alone with my husband?  Priceless!

I would like to give a big THANKS to my kids for putting up with all my calls and text messages home just to check.  I want to thank my daughter for being so responsible.  I want to thank Suz for putting up with a few possible texts that were written while under the influence of a drink (or three), for being “on call”, for being a stand-in mother (I’m so blessed to have someone my kids can call on), and for letting Oreo come over for a play date (how’s Mercedes?).  You all are AWESOME!

Tonight is our last night here.  On that note I will sign out and go shower for dinner.  Although I’ve had an awesome time, I’m ready to get home to my kids and friends.

See ya soon!

Glad you guys are having such a good time! We all need a break from time to time.

Oh and BTW the kids are fine! Oreo was a great guest; Mercedes survived (under protest); and Zeus is, well, lets just say he is Mr. Zeus.

Enjoy your last night….then back to reality.

    🙂
