Wow! Just…..Wow!
Tonight is Prom night. Our babies (SuZan and mine) are big boys now. I can’t possibly explain the emotions the SuZan and I are experiencing. We’ve talked about how our role is changing. It is. G2 sat outside with SuZan and talked. Yes, talked! For two hours. About Life. Wow. My son, he is showing responsibility. He ordered the corsage, he picked up the corsage, he picked up his tux, he’s getting a haircut. All of this with out me nagging…..at all!
Yes, we are proud of them. But at the same time, this next phase is a bit scary. It’s like giving birth….to an adult! Remember how you felt when you pushed your kid out your hoo ha? You were scared, relieved, worried, happy, in love with this new creature. Same thing. With graduation just a few short weeks away I find myself sad that he’s no longer a little boy, proud of the man he’s become, scared of the future that lies ahead. At the same time I’m excited, happy, sad, and scared of what lies ahead for me. For 18 years I’ve been committed to raising my children. Although I still have two others, I realize how quickly the time will come when I won’t have any children around. I wonder what exciting turns my life will take.
I never got my degree. I excelled in “Party 101”; which led to “Boyfriend 101”; which was followed by “Husband 101”. Of course I had to take “Child 101-103”. Unfortunately “Divorce 101” was required. But now it looks like maybe the time is right for me to pursue that dream. I’m terrified that I won’t be able to do it. It’s been a looooonnnnnggggg time since I’ve been in school. Do I have what it takes?

| Posted 16 years, 11 months agoOooo Prom Night tonight!?? I remember photos on this blog from last year…. and this year I get to do prom too! BabyGirl is only a Sophomore but Boyfriend is a Junior. Our prom is tomorrow night.
I can’t wait to see your photos tomorrow… (that’s a hint to make sure they get posted… hee hee).

I got a 4.0 in drinking.
I never went to prom. Can’t wait to see photos.
| Posted 16 years, 11 months agoMy mom went back to school when I was 9 and she was 31. I went back to Culinary School when I was 30. One thing I learned from both of those experiences…
You study more because your grades and school mean more to you when you go back. When I was 18, 19, 20… grades didn’t mean anything. I knew I could retake the class the next semester if I screwed up too bad. Now I don’t want to do that. Time is precious and I know I deserve better. AND, I know I can do it if I put my mind to it.
YES, YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES. And you have the experiences, like Party 101 behind you to make you realize that Degree 101 needs to be a priority and you will make it happen.

| Posted 16 years, 11 months agoYou do better when you go back, it means more. Plus you have real world experience to apply, which helps. And you might have a better idea of what you want to get a degree in. I say you totally can do it!
